Brazilian space weather program signs cooperation agreement with China

November 2013, during the visit of Vice-President of the Republic of China on the occasion of the Third Meeting of the Sino-Brazilian Commission for Coordination and Cooperation High Level (High-level Committee) was signed by the Presidents of the Brazilian Space Agency – AEB and the China National Space Administration – CNSA, the Ten-Year Plan for Space Cooperation, an unprecedented initiative among developing countries. The Plan aims to give long-term perspective of bilateral cooperation, including the next steps of CBERS, the development of new satellite Earth observation, joint monitoring of space weather and the training of human resources.

Under the agreement, were signed important instruments such as the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Earth Observation Data and Applications between the Brazilian Space Agency – AEB and the China National Space Administration – CNSA. This Cooperation Agreement for Research in Space Weather from the National Institute for Space Research – INPE and the China National Space Science Centre – NSCC (August 2014) created the Sino-Brazilian laboratory space weather, currently installed in the EMBRACE -INPE dependencies in São José dos Campos / SP.
